Rising gas bills and looking for a way out? A heat pump draws heat from the air and converts it into heating, hot water and summer air conditioning. Save 40–70 % on energy costs. The government subsidises up to CZK 130,000.

We handle the entire installation: model selection, electrical modifications, inspections and commissioning.

How a Heat Pump Works

A heat pump extracts heat from the outdoor air and uses a compressor to transfer it into the home's heating system. The principle is the same as a refrigerator, just in reverse. The outdoor unit draws in air, the refrigerant absorbs thermal energy and the compressor "pumps" it up to a temperature suitable for radiators or underfloor heating.

The Acond heat pumps we install operate down to -25 °C. They are designed specifically for the Central European climate. In summer you switch them to reverse mode and you have air conditioning without any additional equipment.

How Much Does a Heat Pump Cost in 2026

The price depends on the type of heat pump, output and scope of modifications. Approximately:

  • Air-to-water heat pump (the most common type): CZK 160,000–250,000 for the unit
  • Installation and fitting: CZK 40,000–50,000 depending on complexity
  • Total including installation: from CZK 300,000

The price includes the complete installation: supply of the heat pump, mounting of both units, electrical modifications, connection to the heating system, inspection and commissioning.

For comparison: a ground-source (brine-to-water) system has higher efficiency but requires boreholes and costs over CZK 700,000. For most Prague homes we recommend air-to-water.

Heat Pump Subsidies — Status 2026

The Nová zelená úsporám (New Green Savings) programme offers a subsidy of up to CZK 130,000 for a heat pump (since February 2025). Low-income households can receive up to CZK 150,000. Combined with home insulation, there is a bonus of another CZK 50,000.

Applications to the NZÚ programme have been temporarily suspended since January 2026 because allocated funds have been exhausted. Resumption is expected during 2026 once funds from the Modernisation Fund are secured.

We will help you with the paperwork. We know the process, prepare the documents and keep track of deadlines. Once applications reopen, you will be ready.

Why We Install Acond — A Czech Manufacturer with 25 Years of Experience

Acond develops, manufactures and tests heat pumps in the Czech Republic. Over 25 years on the market, they have completed more than 8,000 installations.

What convinced us about Acond:

  • R290 ecological refrigerant with a low carbon footprint
  • Low noise levels — no complaints from neighbours
  • Remote monitoring — technicians can oversee the heat pump remotely
  • Service and spare parts in the Czech Republic, no waiting for imports

From our experience: after installing an Acond heat pump, a customer's annual consumption dropped from 9 MWh to 5.2 MWh. Savings of over 40 %.

Underfloor Heating and a Heat Pump — The Perfect Combination

A heat pump is most efficient when it works with low water temperatures. Underfloor heating needs water at 30–35 °C, while radiators need 55–70 °C. A heat pump paired with underfloor heating therefore runs more efficiently and uses less electricity.

We implemented this combination at BD Klecany: 3 Acond air-to-water heat pumps with 1,500 l accumulation tanks.

Why Choose a Heat Pump from Kotmel

01

Save 40–70 % on Costs
