When Is It Time to Replace Your Boiler
If your boiler is more than 15 years old, replacing it is likely worth it even if it still works. Older atmospheric boilers have an efficiency of around 85 %. The remaining 15 % of gas escapes through the chimney. Frequent breakdowns and rising repair costs only confirm this.
A new condensing boiler reduces gas consumption by 15–30 %. In practice, that means savings of CZK 10,000–12,000 per year. The payback period is between 4 and 7 years.
When to replace: your gas bills keep rising despite the same habits, the boiler breaks down often, makes noise, or is simply more than 15 years old.
How Much Does a Boiler Replacement Cost in 2026
The price depends on the boiler type, condition of the pipework and scope of modifications:
- Condensing boiler unit: CZK 26,000–90,000 (depending on output and brand)
- Complete replacement including installation: CZK 80,000–120,000
- The price includes removal of the old boiler, installation of the new one, chimney flue lining, connection, inspection and commissioning

One caveat: there is currently no government subsidy available for replacing a gas boiler with another gas boiler. Subsidies are only available when switching to a renewable energy source. If you are considering that, take a look at heat pumps.
How a Condensing Boiler Saves Money
A condensing boiler recovers heat from the water vapour in flue gases, which in conventional boilers escapes up the chimney. Its efficiency reaches up to 110 % (relative to calorific value), while an old boiler manages only 85–90 %.
A real-world example: a family house consuming 17 MWh of gas per year. After replacing the boiler with a condensing model, consumption dropped by 24 %, i.e. 4 MWh. Savings of nearly CZK 12,000 per year.

Do I Need a Chimney Flue Liner?
When switching from an old atmospheric boiler to a condensing one, flue lining is usually necessary. A condensing boiler produces acidic flue gases at low temperatures. An old chimney without a liner would corrode and could crack.
You do not need to arrange it separately. We handle the flue lining as part of the installation, including chimney works and inspection. From removing the old boiler to commissioning the new one, we manage it in one to two working days.

We complete a standard replacement in 1–2 working days. You will not be without heating in winter longer than necessary. If we need to relocate the boiler, modify the pipework or add a storage tank, it may take longer. We always let you know in advance what to expect.
