When You Need a Gas Fitter
Not every tradesperson is qualified to work with gas. You need a certified gas fitter when you:
- Install or relocate a gas appliance — a boiler, stove, water heater, or instantaneous heater
- Reconstruct gas distribution lines in a flat or house
- Connect gas appliances in a restaurant or canteen
- Build or reconstruct a boiler room for a commercial property
- Need an inspection or pressure test of a gas system

Gas System Inspections and Testing
Gas distribution systems are subject to regular inspections. The rules differ depending on the owner:
- Initial inspection (mandatory after every new installation or modification): CZK 1,500–2,500. The system cannot be put into operation without it.
- Operational inspection (every 3 years): mandatory for legal entities and businesses under Czech Government Regulation No. 191/2022 Sb.
- Households: only the initial inspection is legally required. However, we recommend an annual boiler service, which costs CZK 1,200–2,000.
Watch out for insurance requirements. Many insurance companies require proof of regular inspections. If damage occurs and you cannot produce a service record, your policy may not pay out.
After completing the work, you receive full documentation: protocols, pressure test certificates, and inspection reports.
