Where it makes sense, we design a combined system
Underfloor heating warms a room evenly from floor to ceiling. No cold spots, no radiators on the walls. The water only needs to reach 30–35 °C (radiators require 55–70 °C), so you save on energy. We install it in new builds and during renovations.
How underfloor heating works
A network of pipes runs through the floor, carrying water heated to 30–35 °C. The heat spreads by radiation, evenly from the floor upward. No air currents, no cold spot by the far wall.
Radiant heating does not stir up dust the way radiators do — a real benefit if you have allergy sufferers or small children at home. And without radiators on the walls, you gain more space and freedom when furnishing your rooms.
How much does underfloor heating cost in 2026
Price of hydronic underfloor heating: 700–1 800 CZK per m² including materials and installation. It depends on the system, subfloor, and complexity.
As a rough guide:
- Professional installation: 200–400 CZK/m²
- Total installation including commissioning: 20 000–50 000 CZK depending on the size of the property
- Example: an 80 m² apartment comes to roughly 80 000–140 000 CZK with installation
In a new build it is 20–30 % cheaper than during a renovation, because the floor height is designed from the start and there is no demolition work. Send us your floor plan or photos of the space.
New build vs. renovation
In a new build, underfloor heating is ideal. The floor height is designed from the start: insulation, pipes, anhydrite screed, and the final floor covering.
Renovation is more involved but often feasible. It depends on the available floor height — the standard build-up needs about 70 mm. If the height is limited, REHAU offers a renovation system with a depth of just 21 mm, designed specifically for this purpose.
That said, it is not always possible. We assess it during the consultation and will tell you honestly whether it makes sense in your apartment.

Underfloor heating vs. radiators
| Underfloor heating | Radiators | |
|---|---|---|
| Water temperature | 30–35 °C | 55–70 °C |
| Energy savings | 10–20 % compared to radiators | Reference value |
| Heat distribution | Even, from floor to ceiling | Strongest near the radiator, weaker at the far wall |
| Space | No visible elements | Radiators take up wall space |
| Response time | Slower to adjust | Faster temperature control |
In practice the two are often combined. Underfloor heating is ideal for the living room, bathroom, and hallway. In bedrooms or less-used rooms, radiators may be sufficient.
When paired with a heat pump, the savings are even greater. A heat pump runs most efficiently at the low water temperatures underfloor heating requires.
REHAU materials
We work with RAUTHERM pipes made from peroxide-crosslinked polyethylene (PE-Xa). The material is produced under high temperature and pressure, creating a three-dimensional molecular network with excellent strength. REHAU rates the pipes for up to 100 years.
We choose the installation method based on the project conditions: VARIONOVA system boards, tacker system, SPEED quick-fit, or a dry system for renovations. REHAU underfloor heating works under all types of floor coverings.
Choosing the right floor covering
Ceramic tiles and vinyl work best — heat passes through them most efficiently. Wooden floors are possible but not every type of wood is suitable. It must be rated for underfloor heating.
The type of covering affects the system cost by 10–20 %. We will advise you on the best option for your situation.
Why choose Kotmel for underfloor heating
REHAU materials
We work with REHAU systems. The manufacturer rates the pipes for up to 100 years — outlasting the building itself.
Experience from real projects
From individual apartments to entire floors. For example, we installed underfloor heating during a full apartment renovation in Praha 6 Vokovice (120 m²).
Ideal pairing with a heat pump
Underfloor heating only needs water at 30–35 °C. A heat pump runs most efficiently at these low temperatures. Together, they deliver maximum savings.
